Azimio Leaders in a press brief |
By Dan Wambua
Nairobi, 17/07/2023 - In a heated exchange of words, political figures have clashed over the performance of the Kenya Kwanza party within the context of the handshake regime. The accusations of hidden failures and a loss of faith among Kenyans have fueled a sense of unrest in the political landscape.
Wandanyi, a prominent figure within the political scene, openly criticized Kenya Kwanza, stating, "Kenya Kwanza is still the only political formation still talking about the handshake regime. They are hiding their failures in the handshake regime."
Moreover, Wandanyi added, "The Kenya Kwanza has failed to deliver, and it's why Kenyans have lost faith in them." This statement reflects the growing disillusionment among the public and raises concerns about the party's ability to fulfill its promises and gain the trust of the people.
Responding to the mounting tensions, Azimio la Umoja, a group representing various sectors, released a statement announcing peaceful protests in light of widespread requests. The protests are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, as a means to express grievances and demands for change.
"We will have countrywide protests next week on Wednesday, whether the government likes it or not," reaffirmed Wandanyi, emphasizing the determination to carry out the demonstrations despite potential opposition from the government.
Adding fuel to the fire, the President of Kenya, hon. Dr. Samoei Ruto, directed strong words towards Raila Odinga, stating, "Raila Odinga, I won't allow you to seek power on the back of the blood of Kenyans. I will stop you." The President's remarks highlight the intensity of the political rivalry and the concern over the potential consequences of power-seeking maneuvers.
The President further stated, "We will not allow the handshake brothers to hold our country ransom and to take it hostage by causing violence, mayhem, and anarchy. Tutawakalia ngumu vile mumesema, they will not succeed." These words underscore the determination of the President to prevent the country from being thrown into chaos and to protect its citizens from any harm resulting from political turmoil.
As tensions continue to escalate, the situation remains highly charged, with both political factions refusing to back down. The upcoming protests will undoubtedly serve as a crucial moment in Kenya's political landscape, as the public's frustrations and demands for change take center stage.
It is essential to monitor developments closely and seek
a path to resolution that upholds peace, stability, and the democratic
principles on which Kenya's future depends.
